This is my first post after being a long time lurker in A.net and also in A-I.net. As my profile says, my heart is in aviation while my daily bread comes from software.
Last week I was in this BLR-HYD-DEL-HYD-BLR trip on SG. On my return journey, we landed at HYD and before the aircraft came to a halt, we had overshot the end of the runway at the 27 end. Fortunately we were still in the paved area and the aircraft could turn back.
No one inside the airplane seemed to have noticed it. But obviously the pilot was concerned, because while taking off, he went past the end of the runway (on 9) and started the take off from the paved extension.
Does this happen often? How serious is a runway overrun? I also noticed that the overall length of the runway at HYD seemed rather small compared to airports like GOI or DEL for example.

hey welcome to a-i.net flightgearpilot,
guess you need to check out the newer forum, follow details in site related
As far as over runs are concerned i remember my parents flying to BSR and their flight with almost full load (A320) managed to stop just a few metres before the muddy area..
They're not so often you see but they do happen at times due to pilot's wrong judgement of touchdown or maybe excess load+high temperature outside and pilot's judgement error
