India for foreigners 101: The head wiggle
India is probably the most diverse country in the world in terms of its myriad cultures, languages, religions, varieties of food, and ways of life. But there is one movement that unites all Indians: the famous head wiggle. This movement transcends all boundaries of religion, class, caste, gender, language, and political affiliation.

Explaining the wiggle to someone who has not visited India is not easy. Indians wiggle their heads to signify many things: you can wiggle to acknowledge a friend, establish a friendship with a stranger, give thanks, or even disarm someone who is suspiciously eyeing you.

I remember the Alteon [Boeing] Instructor pointing this out to us,that after he asked a question to confirm if We understood.Indians replied in a Circular head mvmt, neither saying yes or no.
