Qatar: Airline To Seek Airbus Compensation
December 04, 2006 17 31 GMT

Qatar Airways will seek compensation for late delivery of Airbus's new A380 superjumbo jet, and might put its orders on hold if the request is not honored, Qatar Airways chief executive Akbar al-Baker said Dec. 4. Delivery of the A380 has been delayed until 2010, more than a year behind schedule. Qatar Airways has ordered two A380s.

This is quite common for aircraft manufacturing cos...

Now Airbus will some how manage the compensations but they will ensure that they loot QR and all the othr airlines which have taken compensations in such a way that they get their money back.

Looting includes "rise" in cost of spare parts, some checks which Airbus might offer, etc

Airbus will have to pretty much agree to whatever QR says. QR is one of their main customers and their future seems pretty rosy. So I see some sort of compensation flowing from Toulouse to Doha.
And as Mel says, it will flow back in the form of spare parts cost et al.

Sorry, 380 for the mistake.
I ammend my earlier statement as "And as 380 says, it will flow back in the form of spare parts cost et al."

I don't think its that easy. With so little between Manufacturers these days. Its not easy to boost cost of Spares without ruining the relationship with the Customer.

The Compensation for the A380 Delay & added to by the discounted cost price of the Model will create a dent in Airbus Account.

Airbus has done it quite a lot of times with IC when the A320 used to have problems during the early days of the A320... IC had taken compensation due to the losses they faced due to the A320 problems.

To this day Airbus loots IC
