reliable sources in EK confirm that they are unlikely to get OK from the indian side to operate this aircraft on these routes immediately. if given a choice EK would have operated the high density 2 class config 773's on BOM/DEL/COK routes considering the traffic, but have not been allowed to do so (except for 2/3 months of limited "open sky period" where they operate 3 class 773's).

having said that, it would surely be good to see one of these birds coming into BOM

cheers

It must be added that Airbus is in a mess and the A380 will roll out late, possibly a year behind schedule.

Emirates has sent its own team to Airbus to makes its own assessement about the possible delivery schedule.

The complex internal wiring has Airbus in knots.

Then Emirates is not really in a hurry to get the A380 to India.

As 380 says, Cochin, MAA, BOM, Delhi and Hyderabad are ready, getting ready to receive the jet.

And neighbour Sri Lanka is also making arrangements at Colombo. This includes making runway width upto 75 metres and extending runway upto 4.2km.
