AI to launch new Delhi-Bangkok-Shanghai flight from tomorrow

 New Delhi, Sep 27 (UNI)

Air India would launch its first flight from here to Shanghai via Bangkok from tomorrow.

Announcing this, an airline spokesperson said Thailand government has given a green signal to Air India to operate its flights from the new Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, which is five times the size of the existing Don Muang airport in the Thai capital.

The new airport in Bangkok also claims to be about 10,000 square metres bigger than the largest Hong Kong’s Chep Lap Kok airport.

Air India’s new Delhi-Bangkok-Shanghai flight would begin operations from September 28, the spokesperson said.

KCM kindly confirm the same with AI if u can because afaik AI has been operating the shanghai flight via bangkok since quite a time now. I guess what this piece of news wanted to highlight was that the AI flight wud also operate via the new airport which i guess is not that special as all airlines operating to BKK are shifting there..

if the same is not confirmed we wud be closing this thread down

Vabby,

It was misleading. It's the old flight that will now use Suvarnabhoomi. Have modified the thread heading also.

Air India says:

Air India, India’s flagship carrier has been given green signal by the Government of Thailand to operate its flights from the new Suvarnabhumi International Airport, Bangkok from 28th September, 2006. AI348, operating on the Delhi-Bangkok-Shanghai route will be the first AI flight to take-off for Shanghai at 15.05hrs on 28th September 2006 from the new international aviation hub of Bangkok.
