Does anyone know why SQ is changing the flight numbers (most of their India flights are in the SQ 4xx series, but now changed to SQ 5xx for BLR) or the flight timings?
I Flew SQ 430/429 last year on my way to SYDNEY. Yeah all flights or most start with "4" to BOM,DEL,BLR,MAA,HYD,ATQ,AMD...
usually airlines like to keep those standard.
Also is it always going to be just the 777-200 b.c now it varies b/w the 772 and 773. In the past they have brought in a 744 some days. This flight is pleasant, but usually full in all classes!!!
CCU,HYD and MAA flight nos. are changing as well. Not too sure about BOM,DEL,AMD and ATQ though. SQ currently operates its B772 on the SIN-CCU-SIN route 4x weekly as SQ 416 AND SQ 415.These will now change to SQ 516 and SQ 517 wef their winter 2006 schedule.
What could be the reason for them to make this change ????
Singapore Airlines is undertaking a wide-ranging review of existing flight numbers, following significant growth in the network over recent years. Some flight numbers will change to avoid confusion with similar-sounding numbers to aid customer convenience and communication.
That being said - I still don't get hte logic SQ is using in this (re)numbering scheme. To have a different series for MAA/CCU/BLR/AMD and a different series from BOM/DEL etc - does not make much sense (to me). Hopefully there'll be someone who can sort this out!
