I don’t think it's the best move for airlines to ban alcohol on flights. Will some passengers drink too much and act up? well sure they will, but there has to be a better option than banning alcohol.
It MUST be up to the cabin crew to use good judgment somehow (i understand that's hard because no 2 people are alike) and stop serving drinks when they think a person might get out of control (because waiting for them to become unruly isn’t very smart)
If the passenger does get unruly, then the flight crew/airline have to be very very strict, heck call security at the destination airport if you have too!
getting drunk on a flight is illegal, don’t let them get drunk and if they do don’t them get away with it!

May be a bit prudish, but the changes that affect the body while flying, the question of dehydration, levels of humidity and DVT are all factors against the consumption of alcohol.
