Permalink Closed

Hi mates,

i was listening to the DEL approach today in the morning. as the 9w flight was about to land or cleared for land. the pilot communicated localizer established and then said bbye... so just wondering do pilots stop communicating after that or does the channel of communication changes...

any inputs wud be appreciated...

the approach controller will guide you through the approach phase of the flight... and ask you to report when established.... or will typically say "report when established. contact tower on XXX.XX"

so pilots will confirm to the approach controller when they have established themselves on the localiser and have captured the active glideslope and then proceed to change to tower frequency after informing the approach controller of successfully estalishing approach to the active and waves off the controller

The flow of events after touchdown is rapid and contact is initiated with tower for identification and taxi/gate/stand clearance once the crew have completed their post touchdown actions and have brought the plane to taxi speed.
