While I submit that your observations are not out of order, since after all they are your observations, I would also like to ask you to provide sufficient empirical and valid evidence that the passengers in question that you observed were, in actual fact, Indians.
Indians as in residents and citizens of India.
I mean, could they not have been NRIs (and we know enough about their behaviour already, the malls in Milpitas are a tribute to this), or Sri Lankans, or people of Indian origin from other countries like Nepal, Malaysia, BanglaDesh, Pakistan, Maldives, Bhutan, Malaysia, Burma/Myanmar, Tibet? Or maybe even Americans, Europeans, Africans, Australians?
Then you say "A young kid getting knocked around like this would never happen in the west." How did you come to this admirable conclusion, texdravid? Would you care to research or learn about paedophilia, which is a western export by air to India? Where is this nirvana in the West that you so admire for its eminent love and care for the safety and security of children?
And as far as people trying to grab what they are not entitled to, for example a Business Class seat when they are entitled to a Coach Class seat, may I place here that I have seen how cabin crew in assorted airlines including Western airlines gladly not just upgrade their friends and family but also do so for a fee paid in cash once aloft?
And as for DABTH and his knowing how it is with LH, then here is one for him - why is LH then so keen to step up flights into India if "Indians" are such terrible people?
Ok, Malik let me rephrase that. They all seemed to be people from the Indian subcontinent and/or Sri Lanka. In any event, they weren't Westerners.
What does pedophilia have to do with this thread? In America and in the west, I'm saying kids don't get pushed around and denied access to the aisle, for crying out loud! This has nothing to do with deviant western (or other locations) sexual behavior.
Airlines can and do offer moving up to business for a fee or such, but it is done by the airline. On the other hand, I'm talking about various men on the FRA-DEL flight getting up and using the business lavs and seats without invitation and after there were told multiple times to stay in the coach section. I have flown coach all my life, except for the past three years, and I never ventured up to business, and certainly did not repeatedly not listen to the purser's instructions.
I have flown international all around the world since I was 6 years old and fly international at least three times a year on all of the world's major airlines. I have yet to see any passengers AS A GROUP act as discourteous as our fellow Indians.
Next time I fly from Dallas to Chennai, I am going to take pictures. See the pictures of orderly enplaning/deplaning at FRA or DFW and see the rugby scrum at Chennai. There will be no doubt.

his weird interpretations of comments is nothing new.... maybe he gets so lost in all his preconcieved notions and nitpicking of the posts he loses track of the overall picture..
and apparently he definitely has it in for LH... coz my posts just seem to turn him red at a drop of a hat.... i wish the mods would do something about his constant arguements and completely insane interpretations on threads...
i wish the mods would do something about his constant arguements and completely insane interpretations on threads... maybe Nimish can clean this up.
This thread does touch nationalist feelings of many, IMO the post by members will help them reflect on their views over a period of time. I would like this thread to be as is subject to individuals editing their own. Moderators are well aware of strolling into business class for a feel, infact one of them has quite honestly written about this in his trip reports on airliners.net, i personnaly don't see any fault in this. Having said that you cannot condone the antics of some of the more compulsive tresspassers.
Tex, with due respect the language you use is normally associated with noveau rich indian and mainly NRIs. Indian movies have captured this streotyped behaviour, i don't know if you follow tamil movies and songs, but there is one song by Illayaraja that describes the tone of this thread i don't know the movie as i haven't seen tamil movies or heard the songs for ages but this song will always be close to my heart as a NRI it goes something like '' Sudhme irdanlon, adh namba oour polla varuma..........'' The song is being sung by the hero in singapore and means that even if singapore is clean and disciplined it doesn't have the warmth of the soil of my land (India). To put it in hindi/punjabi sano deshdi soundhi meethi

What is that supposed to mean? That if I am an NRI or a "nouveau rich" Indian, I have no right to make a obviously true observation of the behavior of Indians on flights?
Get real. We all can have warms feelings of our homeland, our native land, our cultural homeland of India. That is the reason I go there all the time, and why others go there for their hard earned vacations. It is the country and our relatives there that draw us back.
But, everyone knows that India can and should be improved in many aspects, one of which I highlighted. To not bring it up is to hide our shame or to sweep it under the rug.
I disagree with many things in America, and I don't for one moment hesitate to bring it up. Does that make me less American, or less grateful towards America? Not at all.
So all of you who feel personally insulted or something because of an clear observation of Indians flying habits and rude behavior while traveling should stop being personally insulted. I am not an outsider or westerner writing to this forum and making fun of Indians. I am a desi thru and thru and I just wish Indians who have come so far economically in the past decade would learn the basic courtesies and niceties of traveling and not look like loutish, immature children on board an aircraft.
BTW, I don't watch any silly Tamil movies, dude. The ones where they are dancing one moment in Kodaikanal and then dancing on a mountain top in Switzerland, and then dancing on a beach in Thailand! Those movies are stupid and a waste of brain cells.
