The man behind phrases like ‘‘The ball went so high that it could have got an air hostess down with it’’ or ‘‘Wickets are like wives - you never know which way they will turn’’ will, for a change, keep his mouth shut and lend his ears as he judges a ‘‘Sidhuism’’ contest. Navjot Singh Sidhu wears a number of hats simultaneous and the cricketer-turned-commentator-cum-politician, who also judges a national laughter challenge compeition, will now judge in the Sidhuism contest organised for the Visa cardholders. The contest aims at finding out the most funny Sidhuisms as part of the company’s promotional plans for the ICC Champions Trophy in October-November. Visa is the Official Regional Sponsor and the Preferred Card of the ICC Cricket Tournaments for the South Asia region, including Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, Sidhu will play a key role in the company’s marketing and consumer initiatives in the coming months. ‘‘We are delighted to have Sidhu on board and strongly believe that he will add further value to our already existing sponsorship of the ICC Cricket Tournaments in South Asia,’’ Visa International Country Manager (South Asia and Asia Pacific) Santanu Mukherjee said. Commenting on his new assignment Sidhu said, ‘‘I am delighted to be working with Visa on promoting the ICC Champions Trophy in India. I look forward to being the judge of some witty, humorous and interesting Visa Sidhuisms.’’
