and did you know that India, as well as Mauritius, actually has a claim on Diego Garcia, previously called "British Indian Ocean Territories" going back to 1947? And that the Brits simply handed over Diego Garcia aka Chagos Archipelago to the Americans in the '60s?


Whoever controlled Diego garcia, controlled the Indian Ocean.

sorry to say, but we are not getting it any time in forseeable future.  The situation can't be compared with that of Phillipines where American bases were on their mainland and there was widespread public outcry.

Agreed, India will not get Diego Garcia back in a hurry (though India's relationship with Mauritius is becoming more, uhhhhm, interesting . . . ). But take a look at the signs and portents -  for example  -  General Motors is shutting down plants and laying off people in the US while it is putting up new plants in India (using the same machinery, p&e, maybe??).


Things change. Why only Philipines, do consider certain airbases near Cuttack?

I read that you too have similar information and read that u have posted the same too.


About trying to back the information, i can vouch for it, but to get it straight from the horses mouth, i am trying to woo Arun to join this forum and then boys.........the rest will be history COS WE SHALL GET REAL ATC INFO
