Point number two. "AI said " is either a reliable news agency or my source in Air India. Not all of us can be messing around in the hangers with grease and spanners. We have other jobs to do! Hence we rely on sources, friends in aviation. Hope you take it in the right spirit and not attempt a NCM.

Well IMO we all should stop being overzealous, that for moderators, member, recruits et al....... Don't forget to enjoy.

Have a nice day.

Kingfisher Airlines spreading its wings! To go in for damp lease

 2006-09-06 10:17   Source : Moneycontrol.com
Kingfisher Airlines is keen to fly to foreign destinations. And Chairman, Vijay Mallya says if he does not get permission to fly to US from the Indian Civil Aviation Ministry by the end of next year, he has an alternative plan up his sleeve, reports CNBC-TV18.

"After discussing and negotiating with many airlines, I have come to the conclusion that I don’t really need to buy an airline. There are many airlines, which are willing to operate my aircraft on what is known as a 'damp lease'," said Vijay Mallya, Chairman, UB Group.

The UB Group is also keen on expanding its spirits business. Mallya confirms that he is in talks with White and Mackay, and South African wine company, Omnia for deals. He is also focussing on China as a huge market for the spirits business.

"So there will be US registered aircrafts, they will provide the pilots, they will comply with the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) regulations, but everything else will be Kingfisher, which suits me fine," he added.

So which airline would want to fly ITs aircrafts through a damp lease agreement, moreover which US airlines can afford to fly ITs aircrafts by means of damp lease.

Please correct me if wrong

Well i think US Airways already operates A330s so they might be interested for IT A330s

And as for the A345HGWs which was supposed to enter ITs fleets in 2008 might be leased to some european operator because  i dont think any US-based airlines have their business with the A340s

There is enough time before IT gets its A380s and A350s

Nope - the last news was an official press release from Maxjet stating that there was absolutely no truth to this rumour. I would give some weightage to that press release and don't really believe in this rumour any more.
