Last week I saw a twin wearing 9W colours do touch and gos at AMD in the late evening. As it was dark , I wasn't sure if it was a 737 or the 330. AI use AMD for training its pilots, which gives me spectacular sights of the 744/777 and 310 as they go low over my office.
What time was it? You might want to check 9W arrivals and departures at that time.
Also, where in Ahmedabad do you stay/work? Would like to do some spotting/photography at AMD the next time I am there. Any good spots around the airport?
its unlikely if it was last week.... since last week was delivery of the aircraft itself and it was parked on ramp at BOM as early as 2030 in the evening and completely powered down...at the same bay that it was allocated when it came into BOM... opposite gate 3/4 of the international terminal... so its quite unlikely that it was doing touch and goes at AMD late in the evening.
I feel it might be a trining for Jet's Boeing pilots cos a relative of mine working in the airport told me that 9Ws A330 was having its engine runup test at taxiway Charlie between 2.30 to 3.30 in afternoon

but BTW do u know that before 9W leased the A340 it was interested for the B747s. But i dont know anything more than that or why it stepped back from Boeings or why did it choose the A340.
any one with some knowledge on this pls share

Jet wasnt after the 747s at all.... they were doggedly and desperately after the 777s... as per very reliable sources.... and they were the same ones AI got. AI though had first call on the T7s and took them... so 9W took the next choice that was available in the "open" market.
theres a long story to it... but i'l leave it at this
actually i dont get what you mean ;)... AIs not having any probs with the T7s... and i dont know how the A340s are doing for 9W... though i suspect theyd always have taken the T7s over the A340s anyday... would have gelled with their 737 fleet very well
