There's a chinese press release out this week (too lazy to search ) detailing numbers and nationality of expat pilots in China, the largest group is from Brazil ( 30+) supporting some of the EMB ops in that country.

IMO if (pls don't ask me how, or we'll be here all day) the price of oil comes down below $50, the regional jets in the 70-140 seats will be the largest domestic aircrafts operating in India, surpassing the A320/B737. The next airshows till the end of this decade will be dominated by the fight for RJs, the interesting factor is there are more than 2 manf in this arena.

I have copied this off Ganesh N Prabhus blogspot, he has done some excellent analysis on routes and networks, makes interesting reading. Unfortunately for some reason his blog is not active again. Here's the link and part of one of his postings on routes.

http://creativebusinessstrategy.blogspot.com/

There are many unexploited high potential direct air connections in India. I have attempted to list them here in approximately increasing order of distance:

1 Hyderabad To Allahabad and vice versa
2 Surat To Hyderabad and vice versa
3 Hyderabad To Agra and vice versa
4 Hyderabad To Bhubaneshwar and vice versa
5 Lucknow To Hyderabad and vice versa
6 Jaipur To Hyderabad and vice versa
7 Hyderabad To Ahmedabad and vice versa
8 Bhubaneshwar To Agra and vice versa
9 Agra To Mumbai and vice versa
10 Pune To Agra and vice versa
11 Lucknow To Bhubaneshwar and vice versa
12 Bangalore To Vijayawada and vice versa
13 Pune To Lucknow and vice versa
14 Jaipur To Bhubaneshwar and vice versa
15 Bhubaneshwar To Ahmedabad and vice versa
16 Pune To Jaipur and vice versa
17 Patna To Lucknow and vice versa
18 Bangalore To Agra and vice versa
19 Bhubaneshwar To Bangalore and vice versa
20 Chennai To Agra and vice versa
21 Patna To Ahmedabad and vice versa
22 Chennai To Bhubaneshwar and vice versa
23 Lucknow To Bangalore and vice versa
24 Kolkata To Agra and vice versa
25 Goa To Agra and vice versa
26 Chennai To Lucknow and vice versa
27 Pune To Chennai and vice versa
28 Goa To Bhubaneshwar and vice versa
29 Jaipur To Bangalore and vice versa
30 Lucknow To Kolkata and vice versa
31 Pune To Kolkata and vice versa
32 Lucknow To Goa and vice versa
33 Jaipur To Chennai and vice versa
34 Chennai To Ahmedabad and vice versa
35 Kolkata To Jaipur and vice versa
36 Jaipur To Goa and vice versa
37 Kolkata To Ahmedabad and vice versa
38 Kolkata To Goa and vice versa

Broadly they link places of high tourist or business interest where passengers may benefit from airlines providing direct connections.

The reason i've posted this here is because most of these routes are long thin domestic routes suitable for RJ operators like paramount in the 70-100 seaters. To this list, i would like to add Cochin and Trivandrum as originating airports forming city pairs with Ahmedabad, Baroda, Calcutta, Chandigarh. These routes can support domestic tourists all year round. These cities connecting Cochin and Trivandrum have a large population affluent travellers.

Air Deccan already flies MAA-AMD and SpiceJet is expected to start service on this sector too.

MAA-JAI should do well along with MAA-Jodhpur with 3x weekly service.

I flew on Paramount last week on BLR-MAA-IXM sector. The captain was an expat and the first officer was an Indian. I will be posting a trip report as soon as the pictures are uploaded on myaviation.net.

Sukhoi have increased the seating of their base model from 65 to 95 now They did announce this at Farnborough, here a link of their website still shows the base model as 65 seats.

I feel this ties in neatly with thread covering RJs, rather than as a new thread. Going fwd i am sure they will be posting route analysis for the Indian sector.

How did you get into the c0ckpit mate? IC staff? There was a strong warning given for letting passengers into the flight deck recently.
