Those guys have been instructed as not to allow any1 click any snaps
In one place in Kashmir we were goin to a garden and the security chap asked us to our VIDEO cameras at the security check post and take a receipt for it...
Reason:We were goin to a garden and on the way to that garden there was some VIP's house so no VIDEO cameras...
Logic:Nowadays even mobile phones with 1hr recording of video have come, whats the justification in not allowing VIDEO cameras even some digital still cams have video clips recording option

The thing is that these archaic rules have been passed on for generation after generation and no one knows how obsolete they have become. The babus in the seats of power couldn't care less as long as they enjoy the power that is bestowed upon them.
So, its upto these idiots (read securitymen) to have a free hand and deal with harmless photographers as they please. And, as not all their IQs are equal, some of them are tolerant towards photographers whereas some aren't!!

my sound OT, but I was once talking to a retired serviceman, and he told that when Army went about reviewing its old rules, it stumbled upon a very interesting one. They found that the maximun and the minimum distance a serviceman could travel under LTA(Leave Travel Allowance) was a very odd figure. Initially, they could not comprehend the reason for such odd distances. Then they realized that the minimun distance mentioned was the lenght of UK from top to bottom and the maximum distance was the distance between anywhere in India to UK. So, in essence the rule was made during the British time to suit the officers traveling within their own country, and to and from "Jewel in the Crown". The law has since been amended to suit Indian dimensions.
