Anet SA First Anniversary Pics
Permalink Closed

Hi All,

Sunday  June 11th was the first anniversary of the Anet SA meet at BOM. Anetters Anuj Mathur and I decided to make the most of this occasion and spent a few hours planespotting. Here is a short "pic report" of the event:

Anuj and I met quite accidentally at our planespotting joint. We eventually got talking and found out that both of us were aviation enthusiasts and were members of Anet SA!! The action spread over Saturday evening and Sunday morning was awesome to say the least. Here is what we saw.

Amongst the many domestic arrivals was this Sahara B737. I love the way Sahara's colors contrast against the sky!

The first "heavy" arrival of the day and a regular! An Emirates A330-200

http://myaviation.net/search/photo_search.php?id=00723951

One of the many Jet Airways arrivals

http://myaviation.net/search/photo_search.php?id=00723952

The much anticipated arrival. Saudi Arabian 747. Note that this is one of the 747-100 series

http://myaviation.net/search/photo_search.php?id=00723955

Surprise of the day! A DC-8 from Silverback Cargo. My first sighting of a DC-8; and what a racket it made!

http://myaviation.net/search/photo_search.php?id=00723954

Another regular visitor to BOM. A Lufthansa Cargo MD-11.

http://myaviation.net/search/photo_search.php?id=00723957

We met up early Sunday morning and we were in for a treat!!

The first big arrival was Air India A310-300 christened "Teesta"

This was followed by an Air Deccan A-320

http://myaviation.net/search/photo_search.php?id=00723961

And then came the first highlight of the morning - A Virgin Atlantic A-340

http://myaviation.net/search/photo_search.php?id=00723976

Air India's 747-400 - "Agra" was the first of AI Jumbo departures

http://myaviation.net/search/photo_search.php?id=00723968

A nice orange A-320 from Go-Air

http://myaviation.net/search/photo_search.php?id=00723984

Then came the next biggie of the morning - An Emirates A330-200. Note the FIFA World Cup 2006 logo.

http://myaviation.net/search/photo_search.php?id=00723989

Air India 747-400 - "Mammallapuram" was the next to depart

http://myaviation.net/search/photo_search.php?id=00723991

http://myaviation.net/search/photo_search.php?id=00723998

SIA Cargo 747-400F was the next big one to arrive

http://myaviation.net/search/photo_search.php?id=00724001

A UPS 767 freighter came in even as another UPS MD-11 was waiting to take off

http://myaviation.net/search/photo_search.php?id=00724005

The third Air India Jumbo departure. It was "Velha Goa" this time

http://myaviation.net/search/photo_search.php?id=00724010

http://myaviation.net/search/photo_search.php?id=00724017

This is how we rounded off our planespotting session. Great action and amazing variety. Overall, a nice way to celebrate the first anniversary of Anet SA meet. Signing off...

- Vivek

excellent photos, thanks for sharing!!  Just a few observations

  • How do you differentiate B747-100 from -200?  I was of the opinion that Dash-100 had just 3 windows in upper deck.
  • DC-8, B727 & B737-200:  I simply love these noisy aircrafts.  They make you feel they are there.
  • Good to see Virgin Atlantic and not Virgin Nigeria:  Should make dear Pomnath happy.
  • Is there anybody here who likes Go-Air livery?  It is so generic and what's the point in writing the titles diagonally?

You are right.

Here is the Go Air A320 with the website at an angle VT-WAB

http://myaviation.net/search/photo_search.php?id=00723984

Here is the aircraft with the website above the windows VT-WAA

http://myaviation.net/search/photo_search.php?id=00720168

The main difference is that the toll free number for Go Air has been painted on VT-WAB

As if this was not enough, here is a third Go Air aircraft VT-WAC with the website at an angle but no toll free number painted!

Nice AI pictures.

The AI livery looks nice only on the 747s and A310s.

The AI livery looks funny on the 777s. The tail is not wide enough and getting in all the details makes it look squashed up. The livery looks best on the 747 tail.

Do you agree? Or..?

Wonder whether there will be changes for the new fleet. But the AI chairman a few months ago says the decision was to continue with the current livery.

Jet is a relative newcomer on the international scene. I am sure with time their product will improve. Atleast they would be better than AI or IC.
