was wondering how many of you read Da Vinci Code, i mean the book not the movie. I was strongly advised to read the book before I see the movie. An rightly, the book is so gripping that I don't even feel like going to movie.
And right after that I've picked up Dan Brown's other novel "Digital Fortress"...
Dan Brown as made a person like me an avid reader..
Now that the movie has come out, I am in a fix whether to read the book first or watch the movie instead!
naah!! don't ever watch the movie without reading the book. In fact after reading the book, I am in no mood to watch the movie. There is only so much they can show in 2hrs.
I have read the book as well as seen the movie. My advice see the movie first and then read the novel because if u do vice versa u wont enjoy the movie as it doesnt cover all aspects which are their in the book.
The book more talks about Paganism which was a more common religion before christianity came into picture talks about how certain things in christian religion has been taken frm paganism. While the christanity shows how the world was full of witchcraft and stuff and how they eliminated them and showed people to praise the lord...
This book shows the other side of coin and tell how paganism is not what people think and how its not about witch craft and stuff..
Because it demeans Jesus Christ. The fact that the movie was classified as fiction does not offset the idea of the author and film crew to degrade a man who is worshiped and respected by a Christians all over the world.

I read the book a week ago. I agree with Aseem's view (quoted above). The same is the case with Harry Potter movies. They try to cram 500 to 600 pages of content into a 2 hrs movie. The result is not so good.
Some people are of the opinion that once you read the book, you won't enjoy the movie as a high level of expectation has already built up in your mind!

It doesnt demeans Jesus or anything. And infact it was only in India where a big hue and cry about the movie has been there with screenings be banned in some states and christians coming on street while the people of the other western nations where christianity is the main religion just enjoyed the movie with we indians ultimately becoming laughing stock of the whole world.....
There is a freedom of speech. The movie and the book simply talks about the other side of the coin . Rest it depends upon the individual to individual as to decide which view point is more rational or correct
Considering work 5 nights/week min 12 hrs & having 12 x2 Manuals to read to keep in touch. Each holding 5,000 pages each. One would not get the time to read books.
Da Vinci Code is nothing but history well mixed with a commercial selling point.
that's the whole question. For those not familiar with European history and culture, it is rather difficult to segregate history from fiction. In the very begining of the book, it mentions about Facts. I read it rather carefully, and it helped me decide what all to take it on face value. There maybe historial aspect to the remainder, but very difficult for novice like us to comment.
