Continental Airlines is getting more jets
Wednesday June 7, 2006

Continental Airlines has become the largest U.S. customer for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner by doubling to 20 its order for the massive jetliners.

Houston-based Continental also said Tuesday it will acquire 24 more 737NG jets to bring its fleet of these models to 213.

"These aircraft will give us the ability to seize long-haul market opportunities," said CEO Larry Kellner.

He said Continental intends to grow at least 5 percent a year and needs the new jets both for their fuel efficiency and also to take advantage of opportunities spotted in new markets.

Continental flies to Hawaii from Newark, Houston, Los Angeles and Guam.

What "UA cat out of the bag" are you referring to? Discussions on A.net seem to indicate that UA is still a long way off from deciding.

This is "American" where everything has to be the "best/ biggest/ most beautiful" etc. in the world. I've been to burger shops in the bay area that claimed it had the "world's hottest burger", and of course there's America's definition of the "World series" (for baseball!)
