Both airlines are based on the same concept. Less for more. Both offer lower fares than the traditional full service carriers and offer similar (in some cases) better facilities and amenities.
my mum flew on VS in may and she din't like it one bit! did u'll know VS sells their Emergency Exit and Bulkhead Seats ?!?!?! Yes they do! and the food my mum thought was horrible the only good thing was that on her return, the flight was only 1/4th full so she put the arm rests up between the 4 seats in the middle and went to sleep! they are also VERY strict on luggage!!! like realy strict! even if the flight is not full! because offcorse more weight mare fuel is consumed more VS pays soo...
My mum and i will be going in July and mostly are travelling by 9W lets see how that experince lasts!
Red seems to be the main colour of choice in the airlines!
Both don't attack Air India or Indian. Mallya has a lot of praise for Indian's engineering facilities while Branson (when Virgin and AI had a short-lived agreement) said one of the factors he wanted the tie-up was because of AI's engineering dept's abilities.
Branson, delivering the fourth annual Madhavrao Scindia memoral lecture on leadership and building successful businesses in New Delhi on November 18, 2005 invited Mallya who was in the audience to take a Virgin Galactic flight to space for a once in a lifetime experience.
A common friend of both Branson and Mallya is Praful Patel.
Branson is always challenging British Airways while Mallya is doing the same in India. Trying to get around the five-year rule for international operations. They both CHALLENGE/question the rules.
Branson is a ballooning freak. Mallya wants to do the same by starting such a facilty in Lakshadweep Islands. Wants to buy an island for this.
Both love Mumbai.
Mallya is plased to be called the Richard Branson of India but when someone asked him when he had come to address a meeting at the Omni Hotel in Pittsburgh on October 7, 2005, he said he would like it if Branson is called the Vijay Mallaya of the UK.
guess u dont know that mallya praises IC engineers so that he signed a engineering pact with IC worth something in crores (not sure) but the catch is here by doing so he got a chance to offer his pax aerobridges in BOM and he operates to IC terminals by doing so
Obvious!! Know that. The same reason why Branson was praising AI to the skies --- that time.
Mallya asks Centre to review ban on international operations
AVIATION-POLICY-VIJAY MALLYA Mallya asks Centre to review ban on international operations Bangalore, June 16
Kingfisher Airlines Chairman and Managing Director and Rajya Sabha member Vijay Mallya today demanded that the Union Government review its five-year ban on allowing domestic private airlines to operate international flights.
Talking to newspersons on the sidelines of ’The India Innovation Summit 2006’, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) here, the UB Group Chairman said that having invested a lot in purchasing aircraft, the companies could not afford to ground them.
Mr Mallya said Kingfisher Airlines, after achieving resounding success domestically, envisaged to extend its wings internationally, but the Centre’s policy was coming in its way.
Scotching rumours that the UB Group proposed to take over some financially-unsound international carrier, the flambayount industrialist said that if the Union Government failed to respond to the plea, he had alternatives to go ahead with his plans to run international flights. ‘‘Waiting for the Government’s decision on the issue, we can not afford to place our brand new flights at the stable,’’ he added.
Mr Mallya informed that the Airbus Industries, with which Kingfisher Airlines had signed a contract for supplying A350s and A380s, would be able to deliver on schedule from the end of 2010, despite facing some problems. He ruled out that a situation would arise to claim compensation from the aircraft manufacturer for delay in delivery.
He revealed that his airliner would add over 24 new flights to its fleet by 2008-end, besides 16 48-seater ATR aricraft.
To a question, he said there was a plan to start a dedicated air cargo service, but it would be realised only after utilising the present cargo capacity in its passenger aircraft fully. There were a lot of opportunities in the cargo sector, he added.
Don't all airlines sell those seats, why should they keep them empty? Or did i misunderstand you, sorry if i did
once you book a seat they charge extra for reserving a bulkhead or an emergency exit seat at the check-in counter as VS doesnt offer online seat reservation for indian flights! so basicly a money making scam!
welll their F/As are realyy nice and helpfull and pretty, thier flights are mostly on-time just some of them are a bit delayed just like the usual intl. flights their meals urmm are decent not very awsome but decent and their inflight duty free is really nice!
Focussing on the potential of the resort market in India, Dr Vijay Mallya, chairman, UB Group, has zeroed on two islands Thinnakara and Cheriyam in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep for his foray into the Indian hospitality industry. An exclusive high-end beach resort will be developed on each island and is expected to begin functioning by next year. Also in the pipeline are flights to Agatti island on the group’s carrier, Kingfisher Airlines scheduled to commence by November this year.
Mallya revealed, "These two high-end beach resorts are a part of VJM Resorts, a company owned in my personal capacity. These shall be branded either 'Kingfisher' or 'VJM'. The resorts will be synonymous with style and luxury and will also form a part of the Kingfisher Holiday packages. Work has begun at a furious pace and these are slated to commence operations by 2007. Currently, VJM Resorts owns six properties in South Africa, including wildlife resorts." While Mallya refused to disclose the investment amount for the two resorts, he mentioned that he is scouting for suitable locations to set up more resorts.
Thinnakara and Cheriyam along with Suheli Valiyakara are three uninhabited islands opened for tourism development recently by the Lakshwadeep government, who had invited global bids for the same. The development of these islands, approximately 40 to 45 hectares each in size, will include construction of roads and basic tourism facilities.
Sir Branson is known for exploring new vistas and taking risks........ VJM is also known for this.... but the thing is that SRB does it first.....then VJM follows suit........ Regards t$k http://tsk911.hi5.com
