Remember that AIX is one year old and the main complaint is cabin cleanliness.
The cabin crew are apparently not able to ensure passenger behaviour. Smoking in the loos is the biggest complaint (of course, this depends on the sector).
Chennai, Trichy, Mangalore and Amritsar may be different.
All 7 are leased. AI's 737-800s (all with winglets) which it has bought (18) will start arriving from November. There was a picture of two of them on the assembly line with their winglets painted. But there might be a slight delay as Air India has suddenly deciede that that some of them should be in two-class. Changes will now have to be made in the IFE arrangements.
Krishna, once the new aircraft come will they have the same colour schemes as the current fleet and registrations i.e. VT-AXA..G or will the registration continuoe onwards from G.
How long are the leasing terms for the 738s and how many more 738s does AIX have on lease still to recieve.
The colour schemes of the leased aircraft will be transfeerd to the new and owned aircraft. Same in the case of the registrations.
One more I think -- 8 on lease. Think this is it as the new 737-800s are just round the corner.
Lease is 3 years.
But looking by what's happening, they seem to be running out of ideas of what to have on the tails. One plane has a particularly horrid one of a close-up of some Mumbai model displaying her pianted nails and jewellery on her wrist. While the other side has a close-up of her neck and a huge chunk of ethnic jewellery. Looks like a promo for Thribhuvandass Bhimji Zaveri.
Am sure the next thing to be painted on their tails would be the various monuments - Taj Mahal & Sun Temple are already there. Next to follow would be the Gateway of India, India Gate, Hawa Mahal, Lake Palace in Udaipur, Tirupati temple, etc etc......
