With the merger with Air India on "fast track", does IA's plans to fly further still stand? Praful Patel hinted that IA may have to go a bit slow now, but Viswapthi Trivedi said recently, while announcing IA's plans to introduce live TV (an Airbus, he said, is being tested to show Doordarshan live), that IA is keen on getting a London service in by 2007 and that the search for 12 wide-body jets is still on.
indian airlines call sign is IC (and not IA) the widebodies is just an issue which wil take long time 2 get fulfilled by the way the airline engineers have placed a demand for 12 widebody jets among following:A330, A340, A350,B767, B777, B787
But now since AI opted for Boeing its clear that IC wil take Airbus jets only

with their merger on cards, it can be anything. If they have their way, then more likely Boeing because of commonality with AI's existing fleet. But again, as it is going to be lease, it doesn't really matter.
But isnt it true that there is a shortage of widebody jets in the leasing market?? I guess AI is facing problems in regards to leasing more planes. I wish there was some private airline in india with all widebody jets.....
well thats not possible atleast for now because the law says that carriers must fly for atleast 5 years in domestic services then only they are permitted to fly international (AI an exception)
