Does anyone know if United Airlines plans to return to India ?

It would be good to see a star alliance carrier go non-stop US-India. That would complete all the 3 alliances having non-stops from US to India since CO (Skyteam) and AA (OneWorld) already have flights !!

Bumping up this topic - given the discussion in the A.net forums!

I hope that UA does decide to resume service to India - and they would benefit from using their hubs on the west coast and their hub in NRT.

they are likely to ... yes.... i dont see why not considering how well the Star Alliance partners are doing here.... importantly their best and most important partner LH

My guess is that heir biggest reason not to come back is the shortage/lack of suitable equipment that can launch innovate non-stop routings (say IAD-BOM or SFO-BOM/BLR).

The rest is all probably posturing, since they know the market rather well (considering the amount of feed they provide via LH's services to India).

I would hope they use their NRT hub to their advantage, and start NRT-India services connecting with their US-NRT services.
