Airbus A380 certified air worthy
TOULOUSE, France (AFP) - The Airbus A380, the world's largest civilian airliner, has received its air worthiness certificate from US and European authorities, 10 months before Singapore Airlines is to get the first commercial model.
The certificate was signed by Patrick Goudou for the European Aviation Safety Agency and John Hickey for the US Federal Aviation Administration at an Airbus facility in Toulouse, southern France.
A new era in flying is about to begin... by god's grace with CEO changing about 2 times, delays, expense rises and even cancellations Airbus has managed to get the air worth certificate... Awaiting to fly the A380 sometime in future...

found an interesting article about problems associated with A380. Haven't gone through myself but in overview it seems that in hurry, they made a half baked cake. Attaching it so that everyone can read. rgds VT-ASJ
Airbus may have gotten A380 a certificate, but it now has the big task of "re-" marketing the behemoth.
The technical and political snags robbed any chance this European 'revolution' had of creating a favorable mindspace amongst the airlines.
This now seems similar to the challenges the L1011 had in the early 70s, on account of the troubles with RR. Despite being a generally superior product in its class, the Diesel-10 and eventually, Airbus itself, outsold the jet.
And even now, Lufthansa has signalled that it isnt taking things lying down by ordering the passenger B747-8.
Emirates, QR etc are already sceptical.
A380 probems have created a believable "choice" in the otherwise questionable B747-8, which is the 6th iteration of a 40 year old airframe. (100/200/300/SP/400)
Its like saying "a country has been born"- now it needs to be run..
maybe i got a lil ahead of myself- but get the drift ?
I feel Boeing was Right about the A380.Personally I hope its sucessfull. But Boeing going with the B748 is enough competition. The A380 seems a little too large than needed.
Agreed That A380 is huge maybe potbellied . But no matter what its one of the best things which are currently happening to the aviation scenario . Its gud to see finally things moving
Just wondering which all airlines are planning to use this baby on our indian airports??
