MUMBAI - Airblue, a Pakistan-based low-cost carrier (LCC) says it hopes to fly to India once it gets the flying rights. Pakistan's domestic civil aviation market is about five million.

Shahid K Abassi, chief operating officer of Airblue, says the carrier has six aircraft in its fleet and it connects seven cities in Pakistan.

Airblue, which currently operates flights to Dubai, has plans to fly to the UK. Abassi says it plans to fund its future aircraft acquisition - up to six- through internal cash generation.

Mr Abassi mentions that he can start a service to Mumbai even tonight as his A320 aircraft lie idle at Karachi during the night. The only hurdle is the permission to fly to India.

Guess if he can get the pricing right, he will be able to give PIA a run for their money. Inspite of being an LCC they serve hot meals on the flight! Here is a pic of the food served on board:

Meals seem quite decent for an LCC.


Gonna be a tuff competition for PK and AI too (if they start ops)
