Aircraft incoming from DXB. Load of around 100/120 pax on DXB-PNQ sector on a 180 seater aircraft.
Total of 12 passengers on PNQ-BOM: of which 5 were transfer pax including me, transferring to other flights at BOM. 3 Chinks to SIN on SQ, another chink lady to BKK and myself to COK. The others were a mix of airline staff. 4 had Crew Suitcases with Royal Jordanian markings, and one dude with a KF ID tag who just kind of sauntered in. He looked like abaggage agent types than a cabincrew or anything!! There were also 2 AIX pilots deadheading on the first row: very fresh, looked barely out of theirteens. One of these dudes was obviosuly swigging alcohol: probably pilfered from the stocks onboard. InFULL VIEW of the pax.
Aircraft interiors were tacky: with the middle seat in every row in a different color. Seat covers were not leather. infact they werent even the regular seat covers on a 737. Some weird sack type material. There was channel selection controls upto ch 10 and a headphone socket in every seat as well as 2 drop down screens. So i think rudimentary IFE is available on longer flights. Aircraft exterior was exquisite: a sitar painted on the tail. The story with AIis that the packaging is attractive but the material inside is not!!
Staff were freshers in pretty tacky uniforms: brown scheme with weird handkerchief tucked into the shirt and tied around the neck!! Pretty middle class. The male steward looked like a bell boy at a hotel. Yuck. But were pretty efficient. Orange juice round before takeoff. On longer flights i think a cold meal in a box is served.
Nice report, Cougar. (May be you should mail this report to PP and Thulasi!) The interiors seem to be fairly clean. Some trip reports of AIX talk of hair oil on the windows and other undescribable material from the feet of passengers who sometime sit cross legged. Also the "rest rooms" become smoking rooms.
The pictures of the AIX uniforms can be seen in the thread "Where AI Express is off to next". Seem to match what you say!
