Just booked PNQ-BOM on what I think is Air India Express operated by 737-800 eqpt.

However the ticket issued reads AI418 not IX418. The lady at the counter said that 3 days of the week the eqpt is A310!! I find that hard to believe!!

Is BOM-PNQ-DXB & vv now operated by AI itself? AFAIK after the first month or so, the flight shifted to AIX?

Can someone confirm?

Cougar,

Looks like it's right.

PP launched this service with fanfare and its an Air India A310 service. Was also in the news recently, when passengers had to wait for 17 hours to complete the flight as there was a technical snag.

AIX does not touch Pune. Its only north Indian stations are Delhi and Amritsar. The Amritsar-Dubai flight will touch Delhi.

No man! I have seen AIX 737s in pune very often. After the first month or so it shifted to 737 ops with IX flight nos.Thats why I am surprised with the AI418 flight number!!

I think with AI these things change every week!

You seem to know something we don't!!!

Has the "hijacking" (of AIX by Air India) begun already?

What is that supposed to mean? :)

The flight number reads AI718.

However I have seen a 737-800 in AI colors many times at Pune airport mostly in the afternoons. Unless that is some new mystery flight!!

Anyways will know for sure today evening when I actually board!!

Might be equipment substitution. That's what I implied (in the vein of you seem to know something we don't. AHA!).

But Pune is NOT an Air India Express station.

Just got off AI718 and writing this from the domestic Terminal cyber cafe while waiting for my connection to COK.

As expected flight was operated by AIX 737-800: VT-AXC to be precise! Local AI staff at the counter told me it has ALWAYS been a 737!

DEtails of the 10 minute hop in Trip reports!
