Air Canada is planning to introduce more direct flights from Toronto to Mumbai and other Indian cities from next year.
Chairman of Air Canada Robert Milton said expansion of its services in India will be possible as the company will have new Boeing 777 planes next year.
The new aircraft would have a longer range, allowing Air Canada to fly to more destinations non-stop in India, Milton said while addressing a transportation conference sponsored by RBC Dominion Securities Inc.
Milton said the Air Canada would also benefit from the cargo services to and from India.
I think the plan (as discussed on A.net) was to have a non-stop YYZ-BOM flight. That should cater to a lot of business traffic, though of course it will not be useful to the Punju VFR crowd.
I guess there's enough traffic between West/Central India - YYZ to justify the flight. And once they have the BOM sector operational, AC may want to plan for another ATQ-ZRH-YYZ kind of flight via their mini-hub at ZRH?
