The Skytrax ranking is a load of rubbish in my opinion.

For one, they rank Jet Airways with the likes of Alitalia and United - all 3-star carriers.  They must either be drunk, stupid or insane to do so.

Neither is Indian Airlines deserving of a 2-star ranking.  If any of the American carriers have a 3-star ranking, then IC should be at least right up there with them.

The Skytrax site is informative in that it lists personal experiences passengers have experienced with carriers.  Other than that its rubbish.

Well to be very frank with u i find Skytrax ratings pretty meaningfull. I believe they are using surveys as the methods for collection of data for any airline which i guess is the best method. if u think thats crap well kindly suggest whatz better.. As far as IC is concerned i guess its more to do with lack of data which is possibly providing it such a rating. As far as 9W is concerned i think they r just being frank watz wrong with the 3stars...

Btw i was reading the Sunday Brunch section of HT Delhi where there was a nice interview of Mr. Sabeer Bhatia. His second project www.arzoo.com which boomeranged big time is now again up and running as a travel portal.

They are offering 6 Kingfisher flight coupons for INR30130 thats the total price which includes the taxes.

IT is the first airline registered in India to get a 4* ranking. I am sure they would get a 5* ranking once they start long haul. If only PP and his wisemen thought like us.

Cheers

IA's rating is too low because, as the Editor of Skytrax has said, it is too "plain and simple" and has nothing to do with its high safety ranking. "Plain and simple" is about its inflight service.

AI and Jet are 3-star.

King is 4.

Air Deccan has been criticised and ranks low in the low cost carrier category. Spicejet and Paramouut are better.

The editor of Skytrax is talking out of his arse then.  If IC's service is "plain and simple," then what does that make carriers like United and USAirways?  Stark and non-existent?

One important thing is that as far as Skytrax is concerned i agree with Vabby that their information is quite genuine and they are not generally bribed so easily this CAN be an exception u never know but as far as the facilities IT offers its better than 9W or IC or S2 forget LCCs....

Also IT has been constantly improving their products from the time they started

So maybe after all they do deserve it

Agree with you totally. In fact, IC serves up some lavish and absolutely good quality meals on all its flights. They also seem to have a good understanding of the Indian palate as they serve Indian breakfast items at breakfast time, main course dishes at lunch/dinner time, etc. Never have I seen them mix things up.

I have flown IC from multiple destinations across the country and the meals have always been excellent.
