Is reliance starting an airline?
Permalink Closed

I just got a call from a consultant that Reliance is looking for commanders type rated on the A319. Does this mean we have a new airline coming from Reliance this time? Monsoon offer again?

strange! we all know Reliance is looking to buy freighters for their own retail venture, but why would they look for A319 commanders.  Moreover, it is a bit too late to make a big foray in aviation business.  There is certainly something missing over here.... more info please

Jumbo, the snaps tell me they are 2 diff a/c. The RIL a/c has got a CFM Engine and the TAM a/c has a V25.

I too noticed the same and i just could get some snippets that the engine was changed. Still am on it, let me see if we can get to the bottom of this

That would have cost a neat package for a new set of pylons and avionics. can this be done on the same type certificate ? This is interesting, like to know more about this.

Reliance can do anything as they are more aptly called International Scamsters.....Bigness and greatness are two different things and Reliance is Big not great. So many scarlett dealings makes one feel, omg, why is it Indian

Did try to speak to someone in RIL but no comments........and y would they want to tell ppl that it is not a new a/c.....but if you ask me something is not right here......something is cooking....

Anyone

It could just be a simple error of denoting the same reg for diff a/c, by the painter, has happened in our airline here in U.K. where the stores man has dispatched a wrong set of decals for the a/c concerned. Lets not get carried away with RILs capability to write Indian laws, i think thats as far as they can go.

What you mention could be valid, but did someone not even identify this mistake for about 4 weeks is something that cannot be taken without the bitter pill

presuming one of these a/c is inside the hangars undergoing mods and maint for the last 4 weeks, then it is very much possible. It will be noticed as soon as its registered and starts flying, if not earlier.

ACJ for India's Reliance flies to Texas for cabin completion

An Airbus Corporate Jet (ACJ) destined for Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director of Indian conglomerate Reliance Industries, last week underwent a customer acceptance flight from Airbus's plant at Finkenwerder near Hamburg. The A319-based ACJ, equipped with CFM International CFM56 engines and fitted with a 23-seat cabin, will be equipped internally by Airbus-approved completions provider Associated Air Center (AAC) of Dallas, Texas. AAC is also completing Airbus's first ACJ for an Indian customer, which is destined for Kingfisher Airlines' parent UB Group. An industrial conglomerate, Reliance is India's largest private sector company and exporter with a 2005 turnover of $18.8 billion, contributing about 3% of India's gross domestic product. Completion of its ACJ is expected to take nine months.
