DEL terminal Change from domestic to Intl.
Permalink Closed

How easy/difficult is the terminal change from Domestic to Intl. at DEL. To be specicfic, a relative of mine is coming next week to YYZ from COK. S2 COK-DEL and AI DEL-YYZ.

S2 lands at 7.20pm and AI leaves(if in time) the next day 7.30am. Any suggestions as how to manage at DEL with the luggage etc. as I think luggage Check-in-won't be done at COK.

S2 has an interline agreement with Air India so i guess thru check in shouldnt be a problem but then the issue is whether airline will accept a baggage when a connecting flight is scheduled after 12 hours because if i am not wrong they wud be boarding the AI flight next morning.

Normally AAI runs a shuttle bus between Domestic and International Airport. But only those people are allowed who have a single tkt with international and domestic legs of journey on it. What are their plans do they intend to kill time in the transit louge because anyways they wont be allowed to enter the terminal 5 hours before the dep of the flight. I wud rather advice them to stay in a hotel nearby. Plenty of Budget hotels in Mahipalpur or they can choose raddisson for the night though the prices are going to be high if accomodation is not prearranged...

There is a Air India Transfer Desk located in the arrivals lounge at the Domestic Airport for connecting International passengers.Your friend can contact them and they can help him out.Though staying overnight in a nearby hotel will be a better option.

Staying at the airport is not an option. I guess the best option would be either Radisson or the Intercontinental (Formerly Park Royal) at Nehru Place or Vasant Continental. Best to pre-book as someone mentioned, prices will be very high otherwise.

Iam not sure but a) I dont think so and b) even if present I doubt they would be worth considering. Also is DEL domestic open 24 hrs or does it close for a few hours at night?

It is a single ticket from COK-YYZ and not separate for dom and intl. Shouldn't AI or S2 take care of that. Are they going to send the pax midway out on to the street?

Well the max help would be that S2 offers u thru check in at COK. If they dont intend to stay overnite in Delhi they can use this facility but they wud have to stay at the Transit louge as they wont be allowed to enter the terminal atleast 5 hours before scheduled dep of the flight.

But if they plan to stay in some hotel then its no use going for thru check in at COK. They can just take a cab frm the domestic terminal to their hotel.  Anyways the ball is in their court they have to decide....

Thanks for your reply.

They have a relative in Delhi anyways as a final backup, if the Airlines are going screw things up, and AI's YYZ timing has a tolerance of 24hrs.
