Hi Felllow india airnetters...it looks like Go Air is getting more agressive come August launching a whole slew of new routes esp the DEL-BLR-DEL They are offering a lowest fare of Rs.6900 return incl taxes...unbelieveable. Looks like the IndiGo, SpiceJet, and GO Air will be in all out war soon!!! But good for us passaengers. I should be able to take my pic when I fly BLR-DEL in Dec :9W,DN,0S,S2,IC,GO AIR,IndiGo,SpiceJet..........wow 8 airlines on the BLR-DEL route although Spicejet is via PNQ or AMD....but check ou this site----some fares even for 525 rs--air deccan level
makes me feel scared that blood-bath is not far away. Frankly, never took GoAir seriously, maybe due to casualness portrayed by its dull livery. Good to see them being proactive.
I don't think there will be a blood-bath, though I do think the whole domestic fixed-wing scheduled airline business will soon become a step-up commodity. It will be like buying packaged sliced bread. No longer is it important to know where the bred came from once the packet has been opened and served.
As for fares, I am still waiting for those 747's high-density single-class seating configurations from Japan to arrive in India, 470-510 seats if I am not mistaken. A few of them on Delhi - Mumbai and similar routes, and then we see some reality coming into fares. Otherwise paying 7k for Mumbai - Jodhpur while flying Mumbai - Delhi for 2500 is still leaving room wide open for super profits for those who identify routes and move in first.
Please also do not forget, the aviation industry from India has as much chance of succeeding in receiving the benefits of "out-sourcing" as does the infortech industry.
So, all in all, the numbers and money are still there.
Having said that, efficiency of delivery of product is still the biggest factor, and as far as delivering tickets and then boarding passes is concerned with maximum efficiency, nothing beats SpiceJet. Technology here, to reduce extraneous costs, will be very important, and I see Indigo as a close second.

As per it's website BLR-DEL flights are on Mon, Fri and Sat. They should have atleast a daily flight on this sector otherwise it makes no sense. Thrice a week is OK on BLR-JAI but not on BLR-DEL or BOM-HYD.
I paid 6600.00 inclusive of taxes on BLR-DEL-BLR on IC.(Unchecked fares) in May 2006.
