The long-haul, mid-sized A350 XWB plane will compete directly with the forthcoming 787 Dreamliner being developed by Boeing.
Airbus chief Christian Strieff said the XWB was an "entirely new design", using all the latest technology. Airbus had long been expected to revamp the design of the A350 in the face of low orders and criticism from analysts, who had described the original design as "derivative" and "almost an afterthought".
The A350 has had just 100 orders compared with the 360 placed for Boeing's new 787 Dreamliner, which is intended to carry 250 to 300 passengers.
Is that all that Airbus designers could come up with in response to the 787?? I foresee disaster for Airbus unless they come up with something radical and unique in the A350!
Looks like they just squeezed the nose of the 787 and now Airbus thinks they can sell it as a new plane??? oh well....I hope Boeing can protect its plane from copyright/patent infringement if they are just trying to mimic Boeing's plane.
