Yes, these airlines are still using the arrivals area of Terminal 1A. However, the second half of the departures area was thrown open a couple of days ago. This has almost doubled the number of check-in counters that existed earlier.

Only check-in area is complete. The security hold and arrival side has to be refurbished yet.

Yep, they have. It will take at least three more months to complete that. But smart guys give importance only to decorative aspect. I am not sure that all the facilities will be provided.

So watz the game plan do they intend to use these new eye pleasing terminals in the new airport or terminals which they want to set up ?

BTW which company is renovating 1B surely its not GVK or GMR (whoever won MIAL bid)

Right 380. Unity Infra projects is the company.

The 1-B terminal was scheduled to be complete by April 2006. Due to intervention of MIAL, it's delayed by six months.

Yep. He was criticised by the AAI authorities- beautification is not attaining high standards. There were incidents that were of gravity. The earlier lighting system was replaced. Floor lighting system proved dangerous as a passenger's bag caught fire at airport in mid 2005.

Good article. Yes, a food court was sorely needed here. Currently, there was only one restaurant - SkyCafe which is tiny and does not have much variety. Any idea how many new restaurants/cafes have opened at 1B?

I wonder why companies like Mc Donald's, KFC, Subway, etc do not set up shop here!!

Mel, I think the sale would be good. Anyone would prefer a Mc Donald's burger priced anywhere betn 20-50Rs as compared to a dumb chicken puff priced at 30-40Rs at the SkyCafe.

Ive seen massive crowds at the KFC & Mc Donalds outlets at BKK airport. Just imagine the crowd there especially the ones flying the LCCs. I will for sure buy a Mc D's burger or a Subway sandwich rather than having the cold samosas and sandwiches sold on-board.

What do you think?

The Operating counters + Salaries + Rent should be worth it.

I too feel the biz wud be brisk especially in rush hours even other time they wont be empty but the problem is that for intl. and dom. even different terminals they will need to have seperate outlets which works out more expensive unless some better solutions are there
