Domain Name

folks,

now that this forum is looking successful, I am seriously contemplating registering a domain name for it.  It is not an expensive proposition, and I can manage it myself.

But would like to know a suitable name for it.  So, folks come out with some good suggestion.  Also it should not be too long, and be meaningful.

And make sure they are not already taken.  To find that out, try using the search field of following webpage

http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/domains/

generally the .in domains are relatively expensive.  I am inclined towards .com .net etc.

If you do come across some inexpensive .in provider, then let me know.

please keep the suggestions coming..

Personally I'm not in favour of attaching the anet tag. I would prefer us having a distinct identity.

something like aviationindia.com or airliners-india.net

Olly!!

thanks for the wonderful suggestion.  http://www.airliners-india.net/ is now active.

As the forum service provider is Activeboard, it's link will continue to work for sure.

Now I'll have to communicate it to rest of the gang via Yahoogroup email.

The problems is that new members registering on airliners-india shall get conforming email from Activeboard.  Don't quite know how to solve that problem?

nothing is being deactivated.  The forum is launched by ActiveBorad.  Both airliners-india.net and geocities redirect it to activeborad.

spread the word!!

I like a lot of the suggestions, but when the yahoo group first started out didn’t we agree to not call it Yahoo 'India" or anything like that because we wanted it to be open to other nationals?
I mean even if it’s called airliners-India it doesn’t mean other nationals aren’t welcome, of course they are, but I thought that there was an agreement earlier that we would stick to anet Asia or something like that.
If not, no harm done.

Aseem - can a few of the members (on A.net) change their signatures to refer to this alternative board - say something like "More India specific discussions at www.airliners-india.net" or similar? Or would the A.net mods object to such blatant advertizing?

I'd would have no clue.  Can be tried as they won't ban you for that without warning.
