not a problem... i will look them up tonight

Hi DABTH - did you get a chance to take a look? Nothing urgent, just curious.

Hello,

Im sorry... i was on an extended run of offs for 4nights... so i didnt get a chance to check when i resumed because all flights were coming in late with delays of 35mins on approach due to the weather. Was so bad that at around 3 in the morning when the weather cleared and most of the international traffic load came down... a lot of domestic flights began to leave and arrive... including Jet, Spicejet and Blue Dart... which normally dont operate during the night at all....

anyways... the first A340 flight starts this morning.... set to continue till the 16th morning...

I will have your info for you by tomorrow :) you jsut want the average load?

Interesting.... i didnt know that. anyways this morning was no different... but not as bad as day before..

Reg that operated the flight was DLH A340-300P D-AIFF config 8/36/197

arrived full.... departed fuller... with not a single seat free.... and ALL JUMP seats occupied.

@ Nimish :: I have looked up figures for BLR for you.... the arrivals are currently full and the load for the comming few flights upto the 6th are overbooked inbound.

Outbound upto the 6th seems pretty ok in F and C... but ECO is overbooked practically every flight and chances look tight. Business class though tends to vary quite a bit... but overall the entire flight is operating around 15-20 seats light to the best of my guesses.. since i dont know what the no show figures are like on an average for BLR.

However BLR gets the A340 version which is equipped with Flynet™ but lacks the new business class product...if i remember correctly

Thanks DABTH. BLR gets the 340 without Flynet and with the old (ancient) J product :). I've been bumped upto J at BLR at least 3 times in the past 2 years - because of my *A Gold status, but each time it's been an average experience due to the poor J product. That's why I'm really excited about BLR getting the 346 and the new J this winter season.

OK - now to the loads, wow - looks pretty impressive. Just a note that most airlines now issue bookings on a strict time limit, and if they're not issued in a few days of booking, the booking gets cancelled. So when you say all overbooked, I can be pretty certain these are real bookings and not dummy bookings (which used to plague airlines in the past).

One or two LH airport staff stay in the same apartment complex I do, but I've not yet met them and struck up a conversation (maybe because they work the night shift, and hence don't appear at the standard times).

I think I saw the 757 twice during the day time during the weekend. Maybe they operate some BLR routes during the day? Or maybe I confused some other a/c with BDA.

Well - don't know their names, but can tell you their car registration numbers :) But even that I'd need to walk around in the basement to get hold of.

LH will bring Calcutta online by the end of this year. Realistically speaking... around Nov -Jan... no confirmed date yet.

Probably thrice a week... still have to confirm that.... but calcutta is a confirmed addition

Wonderful news for CCU and LH/*A.

So now LH/SQ/EK etc. can claim to be true Indian carriers (since they serve almost all Indian markets), but our good old AI & 9W still have a stepmotherly treatment to every city other than BOM/DEL

cant blame them... since the infrastructure and facilities are just not enough.... look at BOM and DEL barely pulling along... i'd hate to see what the other airports are like.

and AI has enough of its own rubbish to deal with than serve majority of the cities with full gusto coz basically the population is too fickle and petty minded in their respective states.

Well - the infrastructure is in shambles because it's the govt trying to run business, the same way as the network, aircraft and quality of AI is in shambles. The sooner the government gets out of both businesses, the better for all concerned. They need to come up with a good regulatory authority, to make sure air travellers in the country benefit from the boom in air travel.

that ofcourse is asking for the sacrifice of too many vested interests.....some potentially explosive enough to topple the mantri/babu and/or even the Govt that has the ba#$s to do it....

anyways for the good news........ D-ABTK "Kiel" is scheduled to be returned to active service on the 15th of this month!!!!! ..... LHT simply rock!!

just a heads-up

D-AIFF finally completed servicing BOM for 15days since the start of this month.. yesterday... This morning the service was restored to the initial 747-400 equipment.... and the first aircraft to come in back again was none other than my namesake... D-ABTH aka "Tango Hotel"/Duisburg... put a smile back on my colleagues faces and the biggest on mine :)

We are so fond of the jumbos after operating them from the start.... the A340 never really got our fancy.... so it felt good to have normalcy restored :).... we know em jumbos and seating configs like the back of our hands....

that said though... D-AIFF served us well ... dedicated to FRA-BOM as she was for these 15days... without major troubles at all..

I'm pretty sure it was D-AIGL that operated to BLR last night, since I saw a printout in a cab in my residence complex - that seemed to list the non-operating equipment on that aircraft (probably the pilot's cab to come to the service apts in my complex).

Congrats on BOM getting back to a 744, managing the loads will be much easier now. With the summer rush to the US on now, I'm sure flights are going reasonably full.

Kolkata becomes Lufthansa’s sixth destination in India

New Delhi, July 28

Lufthansa will operate three non-stop flights a week between Kolkata and Frankfurt from December 1.

With the regional network being extended to include Kolkata, India will become the only country in Lufthansa’s Asia Pacific network to be served through six gateways. This now gives passengers a maximum choice of 45 weekly flights between India and Germany.

Mr Werner Heesen, general manager for passenger sales in India and director for South Asia said: ‘‘India is a strategic market for us and Lufthansa is proud to offer its passengers an enhanced network with the maximum number of direct flights to Europe.’’

Kolkata is an important economic hub in northeastern India, housing several mining and steel industries. In the recent past, big players from the manufacturing, technology and services sectors have also been expanding their presence in Kolkata.

With 13 million inhabitants, Kolkata is India’s second largest urban centre and a major tourist and culture hub.

‘‘Kolkata will also serve as an important transit point for passengers who would be visiting neighbouring countries such as Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Myanmar,’’ said Mr Heesen.

Lufthansa will operate the route to Kolkata with an Airbus A340-300 offering a total of 221 seats. There will be eight first class, 48 business class and 165 economy class seats on the flights.

At Frankfurt, departure and arrival times have been coordinated so as to give passengers arriving from India the best possible choice of connecting flights to European destinations and the United States.

The current schedule includes daily flights between Delhi-Frankfurt, Delhi-Munich, Mumbai-Frankfurt, Chennai-Frankfurt, Bangalore-Frankfurt and Hyderabad-Frankfurt.

Along with its new partner Swiss, an enhanced network of flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata will be offered to the three European hubs at Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich.
