Your worst travel experience

Please list the worst travel experience you have had. Do not include inflight/preflight experience as it is being discussed in another thread.

The worst experience I had was in Kuala Lumpur. I was robbed of my wallet in China Town. I lost US$ 300.00. Good for me that I had the credit cards in my shirt pocket.

Mine was in Kuala Lumpur in 2004.My moms purse and my travelbag got stolen from the 'u wont believe it a place u least expect for it to happen' the hotels premium restaurant at breakfast time'.Mind u only residents allowed at this time. But some how this guy from indonesia or phillipines as my mom recalls distracted her by kind of tripping at the corner of the breakfast table and a i ges a second guy in the mean time took both the bags with him .Me and my dad had gone to get our breakfast platters.Luckily that day our passports were with dad otherwise it wud have been worse.then began the usual police station visits and trust me malaysian tourist police is f****d up ok.They dont even know how to speak proper english.luckilly the hotel guy who accompanied us explained him in malay and he filed an FIR.I didnt lose much just my camera but mom lost her money, cards her watch and a bangle that she told that she wud where them after having breakfast but fate had planned something else.then dad had to call the credit card companys in india and u know how it is when u call the credit card companies.they put u on hold ask stupid questions and all sorts of nonsense but we didnt have an option but to make an expensive international call but thats ok as long the card got blocked.Well there u go so much so for a so called 'TRUELY (malay)ASIAN'  trip.

Any trip in the 1970's when I had to go DFW-JFK-LHR-BOM-MAA on AA/AI.  This 3 stop Indian adventure was a nightmare for the sheer length, time involved and the complete bullshit that was customs at Santa Cruz back then.  Then, once I landed, no air conditioning for two weeks, eastern toilets, and food spicy enough to burn thru steel.  Then, if that wasn't enough, my own relatives picking my music cassettes clean, taking my watches, and then complaining to my mom and dad "He is too westernized, da, he needs to learn more Tamil.  Bring him back to Madras before he goes and does something foolish like marrying a white girl!"

Now, I go LH business one stop to MAA, stay at the Taj, air conditioned car, wireless internet, and most times get escorted thru customs at MAA by known workers at MAA as the other 400 passengers wait in the horrible line at 1am! Then I go around with my beautiful westernized doctor wife and piss off all those horny bozos in T. Nagar who salivate over her legs!  Ha, I always have the last laugh!!
