What a Day!!!
Permalink Closed

Hi,
I went to DPS, RK Puram on Friday for a competition known as Business Melange. After the competition was over, me along with my group were sittin' near the school gate. From here, I was able to see the aircrafts real close, not as you see in Dwarka or NH-8, but still real close. I saw B737 Classics and New Generations, Jet Airways A340-300E(for the first time), Air Sahara's B767-300, Jet's and Air Deccan's ATR's, Sahara's CRJ's... I had never seen an A340 so close and I was stunned to see its size... It's REAL BIG... Was a Great Experience... Will someday surely visit Dwarka to get a much more closer look...
Regards
tSk

Well forget about any spotting at NH-8 because permanent police vans are parked there to stop people from stopping there and enjoy the action.......No one is allowed to view the action from there now.

As for the Dwarka side,Approaches from here are not permanent as it depends on the winds and we dont get lucky everyday. For the past week all the approaches are from the NH-8 side.

Cheers,

Mayank

What a co incidence. You were in DPS.. i was across the road in Som Vihar.. on the roof of the 8 storeyed apartments with my camera!! I got all of that !! It was awesome.. its a daily occurance though.. and let me tel you they were landing on runway 27. Whenever they go over DPS, they are landing on 27.. and over JNU when on 10.

Del approach.. delhi has become very painful now.. you cant just sit down and spot they keep changing the approach runways!! As for NH8.. i have got speical permission from the police. Mainly because the igp of delhi is my dads class mate.. let me know if u wanna come with me . He said he will send a cop along with me to make sure no one stops me!

waiting for you reply

Here's a picture from Google earth.

For more details on the runways, go to The ATC guild website and click on "Runway Physical Characteristics" for DELHI. You'll get all the runway details.

The runway next to the highway is RWY 28 (since it's oriented to around 280 Degrees).

To get to the runway on Google earth - search for "Palam, Delhi India" or key in the coordinates - 77.10000000000001,28.566667,0

best way to find out is go to google maps and look at the satellite image of DEL. *ah too late.. thanks nimish*

The runway in use yesterday was 27 or the one diagonally across the picture. And thats why i was shocked that you saw they 9W 343 and S2 763. This is because they usually dont use that runway for the widebodies. And i didnt see any last night. Are you sure you saw those? i have the traffic on this route pretty well documented.

thats what i did.

I saw them at about 12 noon on Friday.
Thanks for helping me out regarding the runway characteristics. But I'm still not clear about it. I would like to learn more about it personally. Anyone interested please contact me via a personal message and I will handout my MSN address.
Awaiting your replies...
